Cultural Heritage of the Aarakocra Character Race

To Aarakocra, the material world is odd and unfamiliar, and they pity the land-dwelling animals who inhabit it.
Aarakocra are inhabitants of the elemental realm of air, where they may travel for months without touching the ground.
As a result, an Aarakocra descending to the earth is almost always a necessary evil. Historically, erikka have sought quiet and isolation above the hunting grounds in order to escape confrontation.
They are uninterested in the people they see running below, and it takes extraordinary conditions for them to get involved in the lives of ground dwellers.

The Appearance of the Aarakocra Character Race
Moving on to looks, Aarakocra are often depicted as birdlike. You’ll recognize them as eagle or hawk-like in appearance.
However, you are not restricted to that. As you are probably aware, birds from all over the world come in a variety of forms, colors, and sizes. Additionally, I invite you to simply Google Bird to see what you can discover.
Assuming your DM isn’t a complete stick in the mud, you should be able to just alter them to look more like a parakeet and be smaller in frame but highly colorful.
Proceed. If you’re playing a necromancer and believe a buzzard would be a better fit, go ahead.
The one consistency in Aarakocra is that they are all extremely hygienic, much like actual birds.
They are obsessive about washing and preening their feathers and ensuring that they perform optimally.
Therefore, unless you want to play a mango or filthy pigeon type of character, bear this in mind.
Names of Aarakocra’s Characters
When it comes to names, Aarakocra uses a combination of chirps, whistles, and clicks. And as a result, they are almost hard for any other race to pronounce.
As such, you’ll want to develop a nickname that is close enough to your complete name that it can be spoken by everyone else at the party.
You’ll want to choose something with a high proportion of loud consonant sounds, as this is intended to replace chirps and clicks.
We’ll include several instances in this post. However, keep in mind that their names are gender neutral and typically consist of only a few consonants.

Now, let’s take a look at the Aarakocra’s racial features and explain what this implies for your new character. Aarakocra has an ability score boost of

Dexterity is advantageous in almost any circumstance. However, characters such as clerics, druids, monks, and rangers require knowledge.
They only live to be approximately 30 years old. Therefore, bear this in mind when you create your character.
In terms of alignment, I would characterize them as hard neutral. They truly desire to be left alone, which is very reasonable and sympathetic.
They are medium in size, which is nothing unusual.
Additionally, their movement speed of 25 feet is unremarkable. However, let us be honest, you did not choose the Aarakocra as your primary mode of transportation.
Justification for Choosing Aarakocra
Now, let’s examine why you chose the Aarakocra in the first place, which is for its flying capability. True flight is obviously a great skill on its own, but Aarakocra are so maneuverable and quick at 50 feet that they are actually prohibited from certain playgroups.
There is a slight arm restriction when playing as this character. However, we’ll discuss the best alternatives for certain classes and other pertinent information in a moment.
As a DM, I can state unequivocally that an Aarakocra is a game-breaker for early level encounters.
A flying character equipped with any competent ranged option will almost always win an attrition fight.
Additionally, a large number of entries in the monster handbook lack an answer to a question that is more than 5 feet away.
As such, it’s prudent to bear in mind that a large number of DMS will prohibit this race. Adventure groups forbid it entirely.
Again, before you walk up with an Aarakocra character or even the thought of maybe constructing one, check with your DM to ensure that their campaign is planned appropriately.
This clearly becomes less of an issue when encounters go to a higher degree.
Generally, after you reach a challenge rating of seven, the monsters will anticipate either distance combat or a flying character, generally through spell casting. However, this is greatly reliant on the DM’s choices.
A very adaptable D.M. We may either alter creatures to make them more dangerous, create decent creatures, or place you in a setting where flight is less advantageous.
This flight speed is unrestricted by height, time, or any other actual variables.

Talons Ability of Aarakocra

Aarakocra Character Race Builds
Finally, let’s have a look at a few Aarakocra constructions. You should no longer feel obliged or typecast to play a specific role in five years. It’s really rather tough to create a character that is either unusable or damaged.
I’m looking at you for EA, but if you’re interested in maximizing the power of your Aarakocra, let’s go through some recommended beginning points.
The Black Hawk Monk
Aarakocra monks are nearly archetypal in the community nowadays, yet their dexterity and knowledge complement one another well, and when combined with their already agile personalities, they become virtually invincible.
Your AC is determined by your knowledge, not your armour. As a result, the armor limitation you now possess becomes immediately irrelevant.
However, to dispel a widespread myth, you can not stack Talon damage on top of Monk unarmed damage.
However, the talons are secondary to this construction. Regardless of your build, you can not go wrong with an Aarakocra Monk.
However, there is one that I particularly enjoy since it effectively transforms you into air support for your party.
Simply choose the Sundsvall path and shoot those energy bursts, like you witnessed above the unspoiled battlefield. This effectively transforms you into a fighter jet, which is objectively cool.
The Druid Flock Master.
Both dexterity and knowledge are tremendous assets to a Druid. And, once again, your armor restriction is of little concern to a druid who is generally light-armored.
The flock master assumes the shepherd’s circle while placing a premium on summoning spells.
After all, one of the summoner’s greatest vulnerabilities is the possibility of being struck and losing concentration on your summoning as an Aarakocra.
With your incredible flying speed, you may simply cast your summons and escape danger.
The Hawk Eye Ranger.
Once again, the Ranger class’s mix of intelligence and dexterity is ideal, but with your simple flight ability, you can basically transform into a flying gun platform.
Simply adopt an archery combat technique and reign in arrows from above. And if you have a longbow, you are almost untouchable as long as you have adequate flying space. Therefore, avoid tiny rooms.
The Owl Assassin Rogue.
While wisdom is rather muddled here, the issue of dexterity is excellent rogue fodder. Additionally, what else qualifies as great rogue material? The capacity for flight. You can fly over fortifications, over traps, over guards, or just go without leaving a trace.
You can see how, at a higher difficulty level, this is essentially a valuable ability. And flying significantly extends your options for focusing your attention on your target by allowing you to conceal yourself at all times.
You may easily imagine how you might die from above, simply by flying out of the darkness of the night sky towards your victim.
I think the Aarakocra is a fascinating race. They are intelligent, but have a short lifespan. They are excellent warriors, despite their dislike of combat.
And, while their flying might be a burden mechanically, I believe that allowing them to fly organically opens up a sort of gameplay that is not possible with any other type of character.
